If your bathroom is looking more like a dingy washroom than a space you want to spend time unwinding in, then it’s probably time for a serious update. The best part of remodeling your bathroom is that you can choose to replace that worn out bathtub with a luxurious walk-in shower unit from NewBath Alabama in just one weekend! Imagine being able to step into a spacious shower anytime you wish.

Premium styles in bathroom showers can restore any bathroom to its former glory, without the expense of hiring a crew to replace ceramic tile or tear out walls and cabinets. In fact, a shower can be installed in the current space where your bathtub or old shower are now. That makes the most sense when it comes to remodeling your bathroom.

You’ll be surprised at how much better your bathroom will look with an acrylic shower unit in place.

There are many options in premium finishes like marble and granite looks, realistic-looking tile designs, and solid walls in a whole array of colors. That means you can get a fresh new look simply by replacing your shower with a NewBath shower unit.

Another major benefit of getting a new bathroom shower unit added to your bathroom is that you will be able to improve the safety and functionality of your bathroom in one step. Our premium shower floors and liners are textured to prevent slips and falls in the shower. Hand rails can be added to give more support for anyone who needs extra help getting in and out. And shower doors provide privacy and added safety in the shower.

Your new bathroom shower also includes optional features such as towel racks, storage shelves, and soap dishes that can help keep things organized. Despite their luxurious looks and textures, our showers are easy to keep clean and they resist mildew well. You’ll feel like a queen, or king, in your new shower unit from NewBath of Alabama.

A neat, clean, well-organized bathroom cabinet can enhance your life beyond measure. Think of the time you will save each morning while preparing to go to work, or in the evening, when getting ready to go out, if everything in the cabinet is where you expect it to be. Here are some ideas for arranging your bathroom cabinet from your friends at NewBath Alabama:

1. Locate less used or more toxic items on the top shelf. For one thing, this will help to keep them out of the reach of children. For another, they will be less likely to spill or break if they are stored together in an area where there is less movement and activity. This might include heavy-duty cleaning supplies or drain cleaner, nail polish remover, or prescription-strength medications.

2. Keep medium-size commonly used items on the middle shelves for ready access. You also might place things here that you don’t necessarily use every day. These could include shaving equipment, dental picks or special aids, facial scrubs, tweezers, or things of this nature. Some people organize them left to right, or vice versa, so they can remember even ... READ MORE

Some people organize them left to right, or vice versa, so they can remember even more precisely where to find things they need at the right time. Hair rollers, gels, or styling aids would fit well here, too. Nail clippers, beard trimmers, and emery boards also go well with this group.

3. Use the lowest shelves for items you use frequently or daily. Skin cleansers, cosmetics, toothbrush and floss, hairbrush or comb, and other things that are part of your daily routine will then be easily accessible and in plain view when you need them. Larger, bulkier items like jars of cleansing cream, soap, bath oils, and sundry things can be placed in a vanity drawer or the utility closet, if you have one.

It’s a good idea to clean out and organize your bathroom cabinet every six months or so. Wiping stains and spills, and brushing away debris from dried products, will help to keep shelves clean and in good order. You also may wish to use shelf paper or a liner to protect the cabinet from permanent stains.

Take a few minutes to reorganize your bathroom cabinet, and you’ll be surprised how much easier it will be to get ready for your next appointment or workday.

Remember the days watching the Jetsons or Lost in Space where the shows’ actors were living in modern homes complete with robots and automatic appliances? Well, today many of those fantastical home conveniences are becoming a reality for the average homeowner. Through the innovation and design of many new bathroom materials, your home bathroom can be the epitome of modern science.

Creating a Space Age Bathroom

To bring a bit of the modern age into your bathroom, let’s start with the area that you spend the most time in – your bathroom shower stall. Chances are you have a worn out bathroom shower that’s in sad need for a facelift. From mildew to rust, your shower may be looking like a scene out of a horror film, instead of a place to get clean and relaxed.

Give your shower a brand new modern look and functionality with a new set of premium walls, an acrylic floor and fog-free glass shower doors. You can enjoy a safer experience with a surface texture that reduces slips, shower accessories that add a level of convenience, and shower doors that create a tranquil shower environment. Your modern shower will be complete with a full rain drop showerhead or a multi-showerhead unit that allows you to keep your entire body squeaky clean, using less water.

You can even convert your old bathtub with a modern drop-in shower unit. Make your bathroom more functional, and increase the value of your home with this modern update. The good news? You can give your bathroom a facelift in just one weekend courtesy of NewBath Alabama!

If you spend a great deal of time at your bathroom vanity, then you may be noticing that your countertops, cabinets, drawers, and sinks are looking shabby. Old bathroom materials have a tendency to lose their luster and appeal over time. Give your bathroom a complete overhaul with new European design touches that will bring modern design to the most often used room in your home.

Bathroom sinks to coordinate with your new shower are ideal compliments, in neutral colors that match well with bright white and chrome. Or go with a bright color to spice up your bathroom. Repair old bathroom cabinet drawers and add new pulls. If your bathroom vanity is dark, include a brand new set of energy efficient vanity lights hung over a full size mirror.

With all the great updates in bathroom remodeling, you’ll enjoy your bathroom time a lot more with all the modern conveniences available today. Call on NewBath Alabama to give your bathroom space age appeal.

As the weather starts to warm up and we prepare to head into summer months, more and more people begin to look into a variety of summer remodeling projects for their home – - whether it’s kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, add-ons, upgrades, etc. As you may begin to start looking into who to hire for your next remodeling job, be sure that you’re alert for remodeling scams.

As I prepared to write this blog entry, the frequency of remodeling scams was brought to light for me as I turned on the TV to watch not one, but two episodes of Extreme Home Makeover where they remodeled homes of people who had lost tens of thousands of dollars in remodeling scams that left them homeless. And then, I went to work and heard a story of my boss’ friend who recently was left stranded without a home due to the same exact story. A contractor that ran off with thousands of dollars mid-remodeling job and a house now that was unsuitable for living.

Here are some helpful tips to help you avoid being the next victim of a remodeling scam.

Avoid One-Time Offers or “Today Only” Sales. Many scam artists utilize enticing one-time offers or “today only” sales as a gimmick to get people to agree to move forward with them. It’s not to say that those in the construction industry can’t offer sales, but most companies have the flexibility to work with you on their pricing regardless of the timing.

Do Your Research. As a consumer, you have the power and the right to do your own research about a contractor. A good source is the local Better Business Bureau. While it doesn’t necessarily guarantee your results, most people turn to the BBB to complain about people or companies. Also, look to see if the contractor is a legit legal entity filed with your state and has its own website. Look at the quality of its website and whether there’s a physical address for that company that can be verified. If possible, ask for references and verify any references of prior customers. Most customers should be happy to tell you about their experience with their remodel and the contractors that completed their remodel.

Cash or Payment Upfront. Beware of companies or contractors that require payment for their work upfront, especially in cash. While most companies will require some kind of deposit down to begin work, particularly because there are usually parts, materials and permits that need to be purchased prior to completion, you should be skeptical for any contractors requiring some kind of cash payment for a discount. In fact, you’re better off paying with a credit card, because this way if there’s any dispute about the charges, most credit card companies will dispute the charges for you and even reverse the charges if the merchant is non-responsive or does not validate the charges.

Beware of the Fly-By-Night Contractors. There are plenty of contractors that drive in unmarked vans or cars, but company vehicles with marked vans, visible phone numbers and website address or other kinds of visible marketing can be a safer bet than the unmarked vehicle. Sometimes the private or lone handyman contractor can provide you lower estimates for the work, because they don’t have the same kind of overhead of a company that is maintaining a website, office staff, and other expenses, but saving some money today may end up costing you more in the end. You are paying for expertise, experience, establishment and peace of mind that you’re hiring contractors to complete the remodeling project – - and more than just completing the job, hopefully leaving you with your dream bathroom, kitchen, bedroom or home.

Avoid Direct Solicitors. Scam artists seek out victims and while it’s not necessarily a scam to be solicited for business, beware of the contractor that comes knocking on your door to tell you what things you need done on your house and claiming the ability to get it done inexpensively or quickly.

If you are continually frustrated over the small space in your bathroom, you may be wondering how on earth to make it less cluttered? Any bathroom can begin to seem small over time, as family members start claiming their personal spaces in this most oft used room of the house. With towels hanging everywhere, bathroom drawers filled to their bursting capacity with beauty and hygiene supplies, the bathroom can quickly become a not so pleasant place to try to get ready in the morning.

The good news is that it’s possible to re-vamp your bathroom by use of clever storage solutions. From walls and counters to cabinets and bathroom shower stalls, there are a multitude of bathroom accessories that can easily increase the storage space in your bathroom.

Here are some ideas to make your bathroom seem larger than life:

Bathroom Wall Cabinet – Make your bathroom more beautiful and put things in easy-to-access areas with your very own bathroom wall cabinets. You can make use of every inch of storage in your small bathroom with custom bathroom wall cabinets. Get yours in custom wood colors and finishes.

Countertop Storage Units – Your bathroom counters take a lot of abuse. This is a great place to add storage shelves which add a layer of organization to your bathroom vanity. Choose a sturdy counter storage unit in a material you like, such as chrome, or an eco-friendly bamboo or wood style.

Commode Surround – Your commode is an area where you probably like to have a few things handy for relaxing in the bathroom. Make use of this excellent space with a custom bathroom commode surround in a sturdy wood design that coordinates with your new bathroom wall cabinets.

Bathtub and Shower Shelving – Want to unwind after a long day, without all the clutter of kids toys, bathing and beauty supplies? Your bathtub can easily become more organized with a brand new bathtub or shower shelving system. Select a premium finish in an acrylic shelf system from NewBath Alabama. This will be yours to enjoy for years in your NewBath shower or tub.

Cabinets and Drawers – Your cabinets and pull-out drawers are probably in need of an upgrade, after a few years of misuse. Have a professional team of bathroom remodelers replace worn out cabinet shelves, doors, and drawers with brand new hardware. Add storage racks and dividers inside to help keep items in their proper place.

A bathroom is obviously incomplete without a toilet. However, have you ever thought how much water is wasted each day through your old-fashioned high-on-water-consumption bathroom toilet? A recent survey discovered that about 30% of the total water consumed in a typical household is used in our toilets. Consequently, we need to reduce this water consumption as much as possible. To do your bit to help reduce wasted water (not to mention save money on water bills!) it is important that you learn about eco friendly bathroom toilet options and how it can be useful to reduce water wasted.

The three important parts of the bathroom toilet are the toilet bowl, the cistern where the water is saved, and the flush lever used to flush the water.

Traditionally, bathroom toilets were single flush, which would mean at a single flush all the water from the cistern would run down. This limitation has been eliminated in the modern day toilets that have more than one flush option. The dual flush bathroom toilet can help save around 20% of water consumed. A dual flush bathroom toilet is the best way to go to have an eco friendly bathroom.

Dual flush toilets are much more efficient than single flush bathroom toilets. You flush only once when less water is required and twice when more water is needed. This way you use only that much water as is required.

How to choose a dual flush bathroom toilet? With a wide variety of bathroom toilets available there are all possible chances that you might get confused with selecting the best one for your bathroom. Before you initiate your search for the toilet it is important that you decide on two important aspects of a toilet: One aspect is to check on the space available in the bathroom and the second aspect is to check on how much you are willing to spend on the toilet for the bathroom.

Your task will become really very easy once you decide on these two aspects. Next thing to do is simply find a dual flush toilet that meets your needs and matches the décor of your bathroom.

In recent times when we are facing shortage of water it is very important that we go the eco friendly way in keeping the environment balanced of all the natural resources. A dual flush toilet can definitely help us contribute our little to save the water on Earth from being drained unnecessarily.

This popular style is the perfect way to update any bathroom, from a guest bath to a full size master bathroom. The best part is that stone finishes come in many color choices, from natural to designer shades, which matches easily with your cabinetry, floors, tub and walls.

To choose the right stone finish shower surround, it’s important to contact a quality bathroom remodeling company, like NewBath Alabama, to do an in-home inspection of your existing bathroom. By looking at your bathroom, you can get an accurate estimate of the scope and cost of the work itself, in addition to reviewing all of the available choices in shower wall designs. From natural granite looks to classic terra cotta, there are many stone designs that will give your bathroom a unique new look.

Stone finishes are actually created based on the natural look and feel of different types of stone surfaces, giving them an authentic look. However, the shower surrounds are molded from a durable, easy to clean material that blocks out water and mildew. This is the perfect solution for any bathroom for that reason alone – less worry about constant cleaning and upkeep of tiles and bathroom fixtures.

Many stone finishes improve the daily use of your bathroom by including shower shelves and accessories like shatter-proof shower doors, floor texture mats and safety rails. This can be an added bonus if you are updating a bathroom for family use. It’s convenient to be able to take a shower anytime without the worry of a slip or fall.

Shower walls are crafted to fit the unique size of your bathroom, and can be accommodated to any bathroom style you have. You can even redo your cabinets while you are having your shower fitted for a stone design wall, to give you more storage space for bathroom necessities. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to give your home an upgrade that can significantly improve its value and functionality.

Find out how you can get a designer look for your bathroom with a stone finish shower surround at NewBath Alabama.

Here are five ways to easily add more storage- and create space, in your bathroom:

1. Top shelf toiletries- One of the easiest ways to create more storage in your bathroom is to hang shelves. By selecting floating shelves, the wall won’t appear as crammed as hanging a wall cabinet. Shelves are perfect for toiletries, a toothbrush holder, a stack of towels, etc. Be sure to choose the right material depending on the shelf’s use. For example, forgo glass if you are using it for your toothbrush and toothpaste unless you don’t mind the constant mess.

Whether you have a new roommate or your family is growing, everyone can use more storage in the bathroom.

3. The hook-up- Hooks can be a lifesaver in the bathroom because they are inexpensive and easy to install. Most people hang hooks on the back of the bathroom door or in a row on the wall. Hooks typically cost less than $10. Be sure to hang them at a level which will work for all family members. For example, hang them lower if you have small children at home so they can easily hang up their towels, bag of bathroom toys, etc.

4. Beyond the trash basket- Baskets can be an easy, stylish way to store large and small items. If you don’t have a linen closet, for example, a stack of bath towels will fit in a large basket. Choose a decorative basket in the appropriate size which ties well with your bathroom décor to create a cohesive look. You can also hang baskets from existing towel bars. Use ribbon or simple metal rods carried by most big box stores to hang them. Ikea sells simple metal rods with metal hanging baskets in its kitchen section for approx. $2 each.

5. Everything including the bathroom sink- Another way to create space for linens and bathroom supplies is by affixing a table skirt to a vanity sink. You don’t even have to know how to sew! Just do an Internet search to find simple instructions online. You can purchase one or learn how to make one easily with Velcro. Be sure to measure the perimeter of your sink first.

If you’re tired of the way your bathroom looks, don’t feel bad— a lot of folks feel the same way. The bathroom is one room in the home that lends itself to looking drab and run down very easily. The good news is if you’re not quite ready to go ahead with a bathroom conversion, there are things you can do for very little money that will totally and radically improve the decor of your bathroom.

One of the biggest problems most people have with bathrooms is their tendency to get cluttered—towels hanging all over the place, bath products on top of the vanity and on the shower floor, and other unsightly things like that. So if you really want to make a 100% improvement in your bathroom, the first thing to do is clean up the clutter.

Fortunately, that is very easy to do and inexpensive. If you go to any WalMart or Target store, you will find plenty of inexpensive organizer products for use in the bathroom. Install them so that the most used products and items are within easy reach of wherever they would be used in the bathroom. The rule-of-thumb is if you make the storage spot convenient most people will continue to put it back in its place after they use it. But if you make the storage spot even a little difficult to access, you will see those items left all around wherever someone finds a spot for it.

Next, get some extra towel racks and install them so that there is a towel holder within easy reach of almost anywhere in the bathroom. Extra towel holders mean that even used towels can have a spot to be hung up instead of just left lying over the tub or shower stall door. Another advantage of having extra towel bars is that you can use some of them to put up some fancy towels for show that will really pick up the appearance of the room and highlight the colors that you used in your bathroom design.

Another simple and easy change to the appearance of any bathroom is the flooring. If you don’t like what you see, change it. Fortunately, most bathroom floor spaces are fairly small, so not much material is needed. There are several options that you can choose from including vinyl sheets, ceramic tile, or vinyl tile squares. If you want simple and easy, stick-on vinyl tiles are probably the way to go. You can get them at a local home improvement store and they are usually very inexpensive. You can also get some great looking designs that look very close to actual ceramic tile at a casual glance. All you’ll need is a small cutter to trim the tiles when needed or shape them around an object on the bathroom floor. If you make a mistake, simply peel up that tile, throw it away, and use another one. Simple and easy!

Also consider changing the door knobs on your vanity and closet, and change the shower curtain and rings if you have one.

These are just a few of inexpensive changes in a bathroom that can go a long way toward changing that tired, old, cluttered bathroom into one that makes you proud to show it off, and a pleasure to use.

One of the biggest arguments between a couple about a new bathroom remodel may be about the overall design. One may want a more feminine look, with colors and accessories that are more feminine and the other more masculine. Pink versus black. Purple versus blue. Floral versus outdoorsy.

Relationships are all about compromising and here are some gender-neutral bathroom designs that are sure to be winners for everyone!

Browns
Brown is a very neutral color and can be appreciated by both genders. It’s a great color to mix and match with other colors, including more subtle splashes of typically feminine colors such as light pink or lavender.

Greens
Green is not a favored color by most people, but it’s become a more popular color for interior design, particular sage greens and lighter shades of greens. While typically viewed as a masculine color, it can be accessorized with feminine types of accessories, including candles, baskets, and plants or flowers to appease the women in the household.

Yellows
Yellow is a traditionally neutral color and, like green, it can be mixed and matched with feminine types of décor to allow it a slight hint of femininity that won’t overwhelm the men of the house.

There are plenty of other colors and designs you can consider when trying to find a gender-neutral bathroom design to appease both the men and women of the house. The key is to find subtle ways to bring in hints of both sides with overall themes and colors that both can be happy with. For other ideas on gender-neutral bathroom designs and to schedule your next free in-home consultation for your next bathroom remodel, contact the bathroom remodeling professionals at NewBath Alabama today!
